What’s in my Tennis Bag? 12 Essentials for Tennis Players

Every tennis player knows how important it is to have the right equipment to have a good time on the tennis court or at the club facility. A well-packed tennis bag is the be-all and end-all! Here are my 12 essentials that no tennis bag should be without:

1. Tennis Rackets

A spare racket is essential in case a string breaks during a match.

That's why I have two Yonex Ezone 100s in my tennis bag.

The Yonex Ezone 100 is basically designed for power and is therefore ideal for players who feel comfortable at the baseline and hit a lot of long topspin shots. At the same time, the Ezone 100 offers a good level of control and, despite the 100 racket head, enough stability to remain safe and precise in any playing situation.

2. Water Bottle

Everyone knows how important it is to stay hydrated during sport. Especially on hot tennis days. That's why no tennis bag should be without a sports bottle.

3. Cap

Especially on sunny days, a cap protects your eyes from blinding light and keeps you cool. My ‘Nike Dri-Fit Club Cap’ is my tennis cap of choice. It is breathable, light and comfortable.

4. Tennis Shoes

A pair of light and non-slip tennis shoes is essential for fast movements.

There are many good tennis shoes on the market. They should give you enough stability and support on the court and at the same time be as light as possible so that you are not hindered in your speed.

My shoes are the ‘Nike Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2’.

5. Overgrips

Fresh overgrips are the be-all and end-all for a good feel. I prefer white overgrips that match my racket brand and offer a firm, comfortable grip. I would recommend white overgrips to any tennis player as they have more grip on average than coloured overgrips. Plus, you can tell when they need to be replaced.

6. Tennis Balls

You should always have a tin of good balls with you. For me, Dunlop balls are ideal because they last relatively long and are easy to play with.

7. Towel

Sweaty hands during tennis are a hindrance to a stable grip. A towel helps to keep your hands dry and to grip the racket securely.

8. Grip Powder

In addition to the towel, I use Yonex Grip Powder, which provides more grip for sweaty hands - especially on hot days or during long matches.

9. Snack

Small energy boosters such as dates and bananas are ideal for recharging your batteries between matches. They provide quick energy and are easy to carry in your bag.

10. Spare T-Shirt

A spare t-shirt is super handy for intensive training sessions or long match days. It keeps you fresh and ensures that you still feel comfortable after the game.

11. Toiletry Bag

After the match is before the team drink! With a small toiletry bag containing shower items, you can quickly freshen up and be ready for the post-match get-together on the club terrace.

12. Slippers

Every tennis player needs a pair of slippers in their tennis bag for changing and showering. That's why I have my Adiletten with me at every training session and every game.

These basics are my personal must-haves for every tennis session and help me to always be perfectly prepared on the court.
